This is a curious yet charming porcelain vase. 'Cricket cages' were apparently once used to keep crickets inside as pets to hear them sing! I have no idea how that worked, how they stayed inside the pots with no lids, or anything else really!

As far as my research suggests, this is Chinese made for the export market. I'm not sure what the markings on the bottom translate to, my Googling wasn't definitive.

Another seller in the UK has posted an almost identical one and dated it to the 1940s, which sounds about right. Excellent used condition showing signs of age and wear but no real damage.

Google "antique blue and white cricket cage" and you'll see very similar examples.
